Daniel Griffin, Ph.D. has over 25 years of experience helping adults, children, couples and families

A licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Griffin pursued extensive post-doctoral training in adult individual and family-based therapies and teaches family and child interventions to psychiatrists at Children's National Medical Center. He formerly taught professionals at New York University Hospital, George Washington University, Washington School of Psychiatry and Minuchin Center for the Family. He implements a family and child friendly approach in assisting children and parents that are struggling with behavioral, emotional and learning issues. Dr. Griffin is strongly committed to working in a way that affirms the strengths and potential of those he works with.

Dr. Griffin describes his approach: "My commitment is to create a safe, positive therapeutic environment
that welcomes and respects individuals, couples and families and fosters change. My focus is goal-directed. I strive to assist people in generating solutions that emphasize strengths rather than pathology. I believe that interventions that incorporate personal resources and activate one's social supports are often most crucial to successfully resolving life's difficulties and achieving real growth."

In addition to a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, Dr. Griffin was awarded a post-doctoral certificate in couples and family therapy from the Ackerman Institute for the Family (NY, NY), upon completion of an intensive three-year externship.  Dr. Griffin is a member of the American Family Therapy Academy, and the Maryland State Psychological Association. He is currently at partner at Integrated Therapy Services for Children in Kensington, MD, and has an office in Takoma Park, MD.
